Book Review: Attitude is Everything by Jawed Habib

I was drawn into Jawed Habib’s book immediately and read it in a couple of sittings. Jawed Habib’s life is fascinating. His journey from a small quarter in Rashtrapati Bhavan to a life of celebrity Hair Dresser, and his philosophical observations on his experiences, make for a thought-provoking read. Though it’s listed on Amazon as a business self-help book but I think it’s biography of Jawed Habib, how he become what he is. And what sets this apart from most biographies is the symbiotic relationship between subject and biographer, and ultimately Jawed Habib is the catalyst for change. Attitude is Everything by Jawed Habib is both unique and well written.

Jawed Habib is masterful at squeezing an immense amount of helpful, practical advice into this short, easy-to-read, anecdote-filled book. Your attitude affects so much in your life, and it’s one of the few things that you can actually control. A good attitude doesn’t necessarily make good things happen to you, but it sure does help. Or you can easily set yourself up for failure by harboring a bad attitude, undermining your own efforts to succeed.

The lessons in this book teach a person how to develop a strategy, how to build a team, the importance of being disciplined, and the importance of managing expectations. The single most important point to take away from this book is the critical importance of creating tangible mechanisms aligned to preserve the core and stimulate progress. This is the essence of clock-building.

If you like biographies but yearn for something different then this book by Jawed Habib will be for you.
